Located on the mainland of Palawan, Aborlan, this community is situated 35 km away from the gridline. The local electric cooperative had no plan to extend the national grid to this neighbourhood due to its remote location and small population. Without reliable energy access, families rely on diesel generators and small solar home systems, only powering essential appliances like fans and TVs for short periods of time. This project is funded by UNDP and aims to connect 120 households in partnership with AIEC-ILAW ,and later handed to the local electric cooperative. Due to a lack of mobile connectivity in the area, Okra's IoT Mesh-Grid will connect to the internet for remote monitoring via a VSAT-WiFi gateway.
