Project Summary

Situated North of Port-au-Prince, Calaville is a rural community in the district of Dessalines. The community primarily relies on farming for income and without electricity, families rely on wood and charcoal for cooking. Each household connected to the Mesh-Grid has been provided two lights and one fan to help facilitate the transition to clean energy, and larger appliances will be introduced soon to help sustain productive use of energy. Installation was done in two months from the equipment arriving in Haiti. The mesh-grid is meeting the electrical needs of the customers with an up-time of 99%, both the majority of the customers that are consuming on average 3kWh/month of DC power and the high users consuming up to 100 kWh/month of AC power. Alina Eneji is actively stimulating increased demand by giving a free high efficiency DC fan to every new customer and offering a lease to buy scheme for productive use equipment.
