Project Summary

Kbal Dameri is a rural village in Cambodia situated close to the Cambodia-Vietnam border. The town relies on farming for livelihood. Without access to energy, households relied on wood-burning stoves, charcoal and poorly maintained diesel generators. The village now has clean power and uses it to power a range of appliances, including egg incubators. In 2021 some village households took part in Okra's clean cooking project with Modern Energy Cooking. Households trialled using rice cookers, blenders and water boilers to foster the transition to clean cooking within Cambodia's rural communities.
